Mod My Life: Tell strangers what to do, then watch the consequences

mod-my-life.jpgHere’s an intriguing Web 2.0 startup: it’s called Mod My Life, and promises to be a cross between Justin.tv and that Subservient Chicken site that did the rounds a while back.

The blurb: “Imagine being able to control people by telling them what to do, what to say, and where to go. Imagine being able to see and hear the world around them as each new scenario unfolds.” In other words, it’s people out in the world, webcammed up, with you giving them orders.

It’s in private beta, with the next ‘modstar’ due to appear this afternoon. I’d imagine there’ll be several rules and regulations to stop juvenile web users telling the site’s stars to strip naked and hug a policeman. But it’s still pretty interesting. I reckon it’s only a matter of time before a TV company takes this idea and turns it into a high-profile cross-platform production.
