Testcard TV – movies, cartoons and live TV for free

There’s a fine line between legal and illegal on the net. Host a load of movies and TV shows yourself (like the ill-fated Joox) and you get the industry heavyweights on your case. Pull content from these sites as a third party and you seem to be safe. Which incidentally, is what Testcard TV does.

After undergoing a month of testing, the service is now available to all – which means access to free online tv, movies, shows, cartoons, music videos and more, on either a PC or Mac – just as long as you have the divX player installed. The service is an aggregator or indexer of content hosted on 3rd party platforms such as Google Video, YouTube or mainstream broadcasters. Nothing is hosted by Testcard TV – so presumably that sidesteps a particularly deep legal hole.

And if you sign up (for free), you can save your viewing history and share clips with friends. There’s also a recommendation system based on your past viewing.

Sounds like a good way of passing a day at work.
