According to the latest report from Ofcom, 84% of UK households have at least one TV now capable of receiving digital terrestrial TV signals. That’s a 13% increase on last year, the largest to date, and probably reflects the growing marketing campaign as analogue switch off dates loom.

From April to June this year, nearly two million Freeview boxes were sold, with nearly 30% of the 35 millions secondary TVs in the country also digital ready.

Terrestrial broadcast TV is still the most popular way of receiving programmes, present in 9.1 million homes, followed closely by the combined number of free and pay satellite services, totalling nine million, most of which comes from Sky, with over eight million subscribers. Cable subscribers are a much lower figure (3.4 million).
