Hang on, hang on. A video camera for less than £40? And it hasn’t fallen off the back of a truck? How on earth…

It’s true, and you’ll be able to pick one up this weekend on the high street. Aimed, as most products are these days, at the YouTube generation, it’s a pocket-sized digital video camcorder which weighs no more than a mobile phone. Powered by two AA batteries, it’s simple to use, with only three buttons for one-touch recording, instant playback on the 2-inch LCD screen, and one for deleting any shonky camerawork. It comes with a 1GB SD card, and doesn’t require any software installation, as clips are saved into the AVI format, and easily transferred onto a PC using the USB cable provided.

Obviously when uploading videos to YouTube, the videos are compressed, so quality isn’t a necessity when looking for camcorders to use, making this £40 model from Disgo ideal for us YouTube-users.

Available at Dixons, Curry’s and PC World this weekend.
