Merian Scout Navigator offers GPS and a tour guide

Newly launched in Germany, but probably heading to various European territories is the Merian Scout Navigator GPS unit.

The Scout Navigator is a handheld GPS unit, featuring a 3.7-inch VGA touchscreen, four to eight hours of battery life, NAVTEQ maps of Europe and traffic updates. All pretty straightforward, but there is one unique selling point – AudioGuides. With the AudioGuides turned on, you get a summary of the points of interest in your particular location. The press sheet limits this to Germany, but if it does make it to the UK, we can safely assume this will be country-specific.

Not cheap though – it sells in Germany for the equivalent of £520.
