Garmin launches 'budget' nuvi 260 GPS in the US

Garmin has announced what it describes as an entry level GPS navigation system in the US – the nuvi 260.

Initially available in the US, it features a fairly standard specification of a 3.5-inhc touch screen, national maps, the usual points of interest plus a ‘text-to-speech’ feature and an expected battery life of around five hours. There’s also a picture viewer, calculator, currency converter, unit converter, world clock and SD card expansion.

Decent enough, but budget actually translates to $500 (around £250). Knowing that we rarely get a straight conversion in the UK, it’s unlikely to fit into the budget category when it arrives here. US customers cam pick one up later this month.
