Canon has unveiled a glut of new models today, including the 8 megapixel PowerShot SD870 and 12.1 megapixel SD950 IS Digital ELPH cameras, both suited to the ‘trend-setting techie’ apparently.

These small/lightweight titanium-clad models pack in a lot of technology too. Aside from the impressive pixel count, the SD950 has 3.7x optical zoom with optical image stabiliser (OIS), a next-generation version of Canon’s Face Detection technology, a DIGIC III image processor, red-eye correction, an optical viewfinder and a 2.5-inch PureColor LCD screen with scratch-resistant and anti-reflection coating. In the US, this will sell for around $449.99 (around £225).

The SD870 has 3.8x wide-angle optical zoom with optical image stabilisation, a DIGIC III processor with Advanced Face Detection Technology and a three-inch PureColor LCD screen with scratch-resistant and anti-reflection coating. $399.99 is the quoted price, which is around £200.
