Simplify Media – share your iTunes library with your friends

File sharing always gets the alarm bells ringing, but Simplify Media’s iTunes plugin allows you to share with friends as if they’ve popped round to your house for a listen.

It allows you to create a limited network of up to 30 friends, so if any of those people happen to be online, you can browse their iTunes library and listen to some tunes you might not have loaded in the same quality as heard on the hosted machine. It’s like thumbing through someone’s collection in effect.

Copyright issues? Well, possibly, but it is limited to just your friends – and only 30 in total. But more importantly, it’s only streaming, not downloading – the original file stays on the host PC. Versions are to follow for Windows Media Player and WinAmp. Oh yes – and it’s free.
