Netgear ships Storage Central Turbo – network your storage

Netgear is now shipping the Storage Central Turbo, a network storage device that houses two serial ATA drives of any size for accessing and backing up data.

An advancement on the company’s original Storage Central (SC101) product, the Storage Central Turbo (SC101T) functions much like a locally attached USB disk drive, but remains accessible from several Windows PCs on the network. It supports up to two 3.5-inch Serial ATA (SATA) disk drives of any capacity (not included), which can be replaced for larger drives if necessary or can be expanded by adding extra Storage Central Turbo devices to your network.

It also offers disk mirroring for backing up in real time, with additional security options, should you wish to keep it away from prying eyes. Available now globally, it retails in the US for $199, which is around £100, but check locally for your price – I’m guessing it might be higher.
