Sony Ericsson and Orange are doing a Simon Cowell with Channel 4, although you hope the acts that succeed in mobileAct are a little less ‘cabaret’ than the X Factor finalists.

mobileAct is about finding the future of British music and is open to musicians of all genres – just as long as you have talent. Initial auditions will take place via the mobileAct website where unsigned bands can submit their own tracks and videos before the best 50 are invited to filmed auditions.

The shortlisted bands will then battle it out on tour to win the hearts of the public and the judges on TV, as well as via mobile and the web – and the best of those will feature in a live final on Channel 4. The winner of that will bag the coveted record deal. To stand a chance to be one of 50 bands auditioned for the show, bands should upload their own material to www.mobileact.co.uk from 10th July 2007. All entries must be in by August 5th 2007.
