metal-slug-downloads.jpgFinally. Something to do on your fancy Mac other than from mucking about with the face-warping photo software.

GameTap, the online game distribution service, has opened up its 500-game-wide catalogue of games to Mac owners – as long as you have a recent one with an Intel processor.

The games, ranging from hot arcade legends like the timeless Metal Slug series to home classics like Sonic The Hedgehog (also debuting on Xbox Live today), run on GameTap’s custom player, which installs itself to your computer, before letting you play free or premium (costs money) downloads.

So if you’re not up to speed on the ROM-stealing emulation scene, get your Mac-ass over to GameTap and start browsing.
