Black Eagle MD3000 – GPS meets black box recorder

Korean firm Mercury has launched the Black Eagle MD3000, which offers sat nav functionality as well as doubling up as a black box recorder.

Yes, if you have an accident, a special camera is used to record video of accident for about 18 seconds (12 seconds before the accident and 6 seconds after). It relies on software to detect the vehicle and its break lights ahead from your vehicles windshield. And just so you know it’s not all morbid, it does warn you beforehand if there’s a risk of an accident.

No news of this appearing outside of Korea as yet, but we’ll let you know if we hear more.
