Virgin Mobile offers Nokia N95 on PAYG – for a price

The Nokia N95 made a more than favourable impression when we did the hands-on a couple of months back. No surprise really – it’s packed with just about every feature you’re ever likely to need when out and about. And if you want one without a contract, you get it at the end of June with Virgin Mobile.

But there is a catch. Buying one without the tie-in will set you back a whopping £429.99. And that’s not all – the selling points of the N95 are the data-heavy applications it houses, including GPS and full web browsing. I suppose you could use via your home Wi-Fi network, but that’s perhaps defeating the pint somewhat. Use them out and about and you’re likely to get a nasty surprise at the end of the month.

But if you want one for pose value without the hassle of a monthly contract, it does feature a video and music player with dedicated keys, 2.6-inch colour screen and an impressive five megapixel camera, all packed into a shiny metallic case. But worth £429.99 plus running costs? I don’t think so.
