Music trapped on your computer’s hard drive? Well, Sony’s Vaio WA1 wireless boombox could be a useful too to free it up.

Yes, it streams music from your PC to anywhere around the house and is compatible with SonicStage, iTunes, Windows Media Player and good for internet radio too. Format-wise, you can stream ATRAC, MP3, WMA and AAC music formats over your wireless network and best of all, it’s portable, with up to four hours of battery life on the move.

Other features include direct connectivity in and out (for example, to a larger stereo system), 8w stereo speakers, a six-band equaliser, five-line LCD, alarm clock and remote control. The US price should be around $350 (£175), but the UK price is likely to be higher should it ever make it over.
