Onkyo to launch seven home cinema receivers including models with HD audio support

Onkyo has announced that, over the coming two months, it will launch seven new home cinema receivers to the UK market, with prices ranging from £200 to £1400, which it claims will give it the one of the most comprehensive receiver ranges of any manufacturer.

In addition, all of its models priced over £400 will feature integrated on-board decoding for the high definition audio formats Dolby Digital Plus, True HD, DTS-HD, and DTS-HD Master Audio.

All models will feature 1080p compatible HDMI 1.3a inputs and outputs, plus Audyssey microphone-based auto setup.

Additionally, the £600 model will feature THX Select 2 certification, with THX Ultra 2 on the £800, £1,000, and £1,400 models.

The top two models will also feature HQV Reon-VX scaling of all sources up to 1080p.

The first three models coming to market are:

HT-R508 receiver

5.1 channel sound, 130W per channel, 192kHz/24-Bit DACs, HDMI pass through, HDTV capable, 32-bit processing DSP chip, Audyssey 2EQ technology, 4 digital inputs, CinemaFILTER.

Available now, priced £200.

TX-SR505E receiver

7.1-channel sound, 130W per channel, 192kHz/24-Bit DACs, HDMI pass through, Pure Audio mode, CinemaFILTER.

Available now, priced £250.

TX-SR605 receiver

7.1-channel sound, 140W per channel, DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD Decoding, HDMI v1.3a, Bi-Amping Capability, 192 kHz/24-Bit DACs, CinemaFILTER, Double Bass Function, Optimum Gain Volume Circuitry

Available from the end of June, priced £400.
