walliams-heart.jpgPhilips has teamed up with charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) for a new campaign to raise awareness of heart screening among under-35s. The campaign is kicking off with a short video featuring Little Britain star David Walliams.

The campaign focuses around Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome (SADS), which can be diagnosed through ECG and ECHO tests. Walliams is actually a patron of CRY, and is keen to get more people going in for checkups.

“The screening process is so easy, it tickles a little, and it’s funny seeing inside your heart, but it’s not invasive and the doctors are very good at what they are doing, so people should not be scared,” he says. “The tragedy is that the deaths of so many young people from cardiac arrhythmia are preventable.”
