The price of printing is coming down all the time – it’s a shame we can’t say the same about the ink. Typical of today’s budget all-in-ones is Epson’s Stylus DX4400, which offers printing, scanning and copying for under £60.

The DX4400 can print 25ppm and uses the company’s DURABrite Ultra Ink which is resistant to water, smudging and fading. It’s also able to print lab quality glossy photos and “laser-like” text. But I’d ask to see a demo first at this price. Other features include red-eye removal from your snaps, Epson PhotoEnhance if you want to manipulate your images before printing and 600dpi scanning and copying.

The Epson Stylus DX4450 will be available for £59.99 from the end of June.
