The best student common-room EVER: a recycled Boeing 747 plane

You can’t argue with a spot of cutting-edge architecture. Especially when it involves students munching their sarnies inside a 60-foot section of airplane.

That’s what’s happening at the University of Washington in Seattle, where Lot-Ek has recycled a whopping great chunk of Boeing 747 as a Student Pavilion. A steel ramp leads up to the interior, which is supported by a steel pipe cradle system.

It certainly makes my old sixth-form common room look a bit rubbish. Although I bet the UoW pavilion doesn’t have a sloping pool table and a cracked Street Fighter II arcade machine that gives you infinite plays, hmm?
