Winner of the NextBigThing award for Health and Safety in 2007 is the Termibot, a 20cm high robot which seeks and destroys termites and similar infestations. It’s also geared toward search and rescue missions in collapsed areas, as well as plumbing and electrical work. Its thermal camera has a range of 1km (!) and it can carry a chemical payload to drop right on trouble spots (and therefore presumably also tiny caches of supplies for trapped miners, etc. Food in pill form likely to be a secondary bonus.)
