iGoogle, youGoogle – we all Google

igoogle.gifGoogle has renamed its slightly long winded Google Personalized Homepage as iGoogle – though surely myGoogle would have made more sense?

Users of the service can customise their Google homepage by adding gadgets that pull in information from various sources – such as news sites or Google calendar. Like most Ajax hompeages, items can be dragged around and removed at the click of a button.

“Developers around the world have been working hard to make more and more of the world’s content available for iGoogle,” said Sophia Brueckner, Software Engineer for the project on the Google blog.

Users will also be able to share design templates with friends, which don’t require web design or programming skills to make. A range of themes previously only available in the US will also be released to everyone and the service will be rolled out across 22 new locales.
