You’ve probably never heard the name Kenneth Grange, but you will probably know his work – which includes the Intercity 125 train, Parker Pens, Kenwood food mixers, the Kodak Instamatic camera and the Wilkinson Sword razor. And now he’s moved onto speakers – the Bowers & Wilkins Signature Diamond limited edition hi-fi speaker to be precise.

The technology which powers the Signature Diamond is enclosed in a 1-meter high Matrix braced cylindrical and elliptical form enclosure, finished in either white or a Japanese-inspired Wakame veneer. On top of the enclosure, the tweeter pod is carved from Italian Grigio Carmica or Belgian Black marble – meaning no two speakers will be the same.

For sound reproduction, the Signature Diamond uses a pure Diamond Dome Nautilus tube-loaded 25mm tweeter in the decoupled top-mounted marble pod; a new Kevlar cone 180mm bass/midrange driver with noiseless phase-plug; an ear-tuned crossover network and a Flowport equipped downward-firing reflex port.

The limited-edition of 1000 individually-numbered Signature Diamond speaker sets will be available through Bowers & Wilkins stockists worldwide from July 2007, retailing at £11,000.
