Sony is pushing its Vaio range of computers as the tool of the creative – and launching Vaio Nation as the place for music and film folk to meet and share ideas.

Artists involved include legendary DJ Norman Jay MBE and London rapper Plan B – both have created their most recent work on Sony VAIO laptops using audio and video editing media software, including Sony ACID Pro and Sound Forge programmes. Other acts that are part of the community include new bands tipped to be big in 2007 – Mancunian band Keith, who recently collaborated with Lily Allen on her debut album and the unsigned WhiskyCats who are currently gigging around the country to rave reviews.

Vaio Nation promises weekly videos, blogs and new music. Users can keep in contact with friends, write their own blogs, upload video, music and photographs on their own homepage, as well as keep up to date with the latest music and film industry news. And you can rate the artists’ tracks and videos, which make up the weekly charts.
