Sony has launched its second ‘home cinema without the boxes’ system – the RHT-G800 – with all the kit built into the stand and with enough room for a flatscreen TV up to 46 inches. And because of the simplicity, it’s hoped that it might appeal to a wider audience.

The RHT-G800 has all the processing, amplification and speakers in a single unit. It also features a HDMI interface, along with both analogue and digital audio connections – so its easy to add a DVD player or recorder, games console or cable/satellite set-top box, with space for up to four items. It’s also compatible with the high-resolution Linear PCM audio system used on Blu-ray, as well as the Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks found on DVDs.>

And all the better if you have Sony kit, as it features Theatre Sync capability, which means one remote or one button control for all your separate devices.

It should be available to buy from May, but as yet, no price is available.

  • Is there any more images showing how this works? Sounds like a great idea, but could I use it with a Pioneer plasma television for example?
