Everyone got very excited about the launch of Sony Ericsson’s W880i handset. Then it arrived and we were reasonably impressed, tempered somewhat by the sight of the iPhone and LG’s Prada handset not long before. But unlike the latter two handsets, Sony has got the W880i into the shops – well, in T-Mobile shops anyway.

Full specifications are available here, but to sum up, if you’re looking for a multimedia handset, this super-thin Walkman phone (9.4mm thick) has a 2MP camera, 16MB internal memory and a 1GB memory card to store download tracks. You can also browse the web with T-Mobile for a flat fee on their web ‘n’ walk plan.

T-Mobile’s Mobile Jukebox service allows for the download of tracks at £1 each. And if you hear a track and don’t know the name, a Track ID application might be able to find it. If you opt for a certain contracts, you can pick up the handset for free, with unlimited web available as an add-on for £7.50 per month.
