While videoconferencing theoretically can save thousands of dollars per meeting and cut down on unnecessary travel in a big way, good videoconferencing hardware is prohibitively expensive still and bad hardware, such as the average (or even above-average) webcam is more distracting than professional. The Giraffe Video Conferencing Robot, however, follows the user around and tracks the camera to his eyes, ensuring better eye contact and more natural conversations. While technology to do this has existed before, it’s only with the Giraffe that it drops into the £1000-£1500 range. It stands 173cm tall, weighs 16kg, and has a 14″ screen. [GT]
