broadbandmodem.jpgShopping online has always been seen as being cheaper than going to the shops, but a survey by uSwitch suggests that the UK’s average broadband price is now so cheap that it’s worth doing all of our shopping online rather than braving it out in the real world.

Based on calculations an average shopper can save £42 per month shopping online. The average broadband connection is now just £15 per month, so consumers can save £27 per month shopping online – and that doesn’t include reduced travel and transport costs.

“The internet makes it easy to shop around at maybe 40 or 50 different stores in one go to make sure that we are getting the best deals,” commented Steve Weller, uSwitch’s head of communication services.

Soon we’ll be able to stay at home for everything, save money, and still keep all our friends thanks to social networking. Great! We could even do it all in a glass box.

  • With new road taxation/tracking/congestion charges, it will be a hell of a lot cheaper in 10 years … therefore, I expect Internet Congestion Charges to appear soon.
