Sanyo readies Xacti HD2 pocket camcorder

In terms of looks, I really rate Sanyo’s Xacti range of camcorders, bringing back memories of past Super-8 cameras. And they’re not bad in terms of functionality either – so I’m looking forward to seeing the new Xacti high-definition HD2 in action.

Like the current HD1 model, it records in 1280 x 720 resolution, but the still camera has jumped up from 5.1MP to 7.1MP. It records video at 30fps to SD Cards, with support for 8GB SDHC cards – that should mean almost 3 hours of HD video storage possible.

There’s also a new docking station with HDMI slot for directly transferring content to a HDTV, as well as charging the battery. Still no definite shelf date or price – more when we have it.
