Little-known fact: MPMan created the first-ever MP3 player back in 1997. And 10 years later, the company is back with The Blade – a slimline/lightweight music and video player.

Just 7mm thick and 30g in weight, The Blade is available with either 1GB or 2GB of memory (up to 500 MP3 songs or 1000 WMA songs or 4.5 hours of video) and with two earphone connections, so you can share your music. Just the one screen though – 1.5 inch 260k colour OLED display. Battery life is a decent 12 hours between charges and a charger is included, or you can charge via USB.

It also doubles up as a voice recorder, picture viewer and FM radio (optional) and is good with MSV, MP3, WMA, WMA DRM and OGG formats.

Available now, it retails from £79.99.
