Along with the Cyber-shot S650, Sony has announced two more compact cameras today – the Cyber-shot W35 and W55.

Specifications of both cameras are very similar, with the major differences being the brushed aluminium finish and the larger 2.5-inch screen on the W55, compared to a 2-inch screen on the W35. Both feature a 7.2 effective megapixel sensor, Real Imaging Processor and a maximum sensitivity of ISO 1000 – which should reduce blur and improve image-taking in low light. There’s also a noise reduction system for more natural images at a higher sensitivity setting.

The Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens has 3x optical zoom range, with a 6x digital zoom and a 14x Smart Zoom also available. Like the S650, the camera also features the beginner-friendly on-screen function guide, along with guidance on the right image for your print paper and the number of shots remaining to the 56MB memory (or more if you use a Memory Stick). A movie mode offers 30fps with audio and the rechargeable battery should provide around 380 shots between charges.

The Cyber-shot W35 will be available in the UK from mid February 2007 and the W55 will be available late February 2007. Pricing not yet confirmed.
