Xbox 360 consoleMicrosoft wants to strengthen the relationship between Vista PCs and the Xbox 360 games console by encouraging developers to release games titles for both platforms at the same time.

Other intiatives include having games that are playable on both formats, and incorporating Xbox Live functionality into PC games.

Rick Wickham, director for Windows Gaming, talked at a “Games for Windows” event a week ahead of Vista’s consumer launch, about how much gaming has influenced the design of Vista, particularly its 3D graphics.

Over 1000 existing games have also been successfully tested for backwards compatibility with Vista. Microsoft are hoping that many games developers will release titles under the ‘Games for Windows’ brand.
