Mac Book ProNow that the iPhone is out in the open we can once again focus on the other rumours surrounding Apple products that were overshadowed in the run up to Macworld.

One is that Apple will ditch CCFL (cathode fluorescent backlights) for its Macbook range of laptop computers, replacing the technology with LED-backlit LCD screens.

“Faithful industry sources” have told AppleInsider that the displays could be changed on the 15 inch MacBook Pro sometime in the second quarter of this year. That would then likely extend to the 17 inch model, and possibly the 13 incher.

LED backlights are brighter and reproduce colour more accurately than CCFL backlights.
