Napster announces winners of its first digital music awards

Napster has announced the winners of the UK 2006 Napster Awards, based purely on the listening behaviour of its subscribers. So it’s no surprise to see Snow Patrol running away with Most-Played Artist and the Artic Monkeys picking up the Most-Played New Artist title.

Napster claims over one billion tracks are played through its subscription service each year, with the awards based on playback between December 1st 2005 and November 30, 2006. The most popular tune during that time was Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. Each Napster Award recipient will receive a trophy featuring the Napster Kitty.
