Dell has made no secret of its support for the Blu-ray format, so it’s no surprise to see it being one of the first to offer a Blu-ray notebook.

Dell is offering the XPS M1710 gamer notebook, with the option of configuring the machine with a dual-layer, 50GB BD-R burner. There’s also a standard-configuration M1710 with the Blu-ray drive built in, along with a 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 1-4GB of 667MHz DDR 2 memory, 80-160GB of SATA hard drive storage, a 512MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics chip and a 170-inch widescreen display.

The M1710 is currently only available in the US, with an early-adopter price tag of $3,699, which is around £1,888.
