Despite yesterday’s survey suggesting that many UK consumers don’t want to pay for streaming/downloading, a new survey today by Nielsen/NetRatings says that online music and video sales in the UK are soaring.

The average British consumer now spends £3 per month on audio and video content, with video accounting for 43% of that.

The biggest spenders are the 18-24 age group who spend an average of £5.34 per month online. In general, men spend 40% more than women per month.

It’s not massive spending compared to buying music and video in the traditional way, but is an encouraging start for those companies involved in online digital media.
