sdhc4.jpgToshiba have announced that their largest capacity, highest class SDHC memory card will be available from January 2007.

They’ve already released a 4GB version, but this 8GB one they claim as a world first in its class.

The SDHC (SD High Capacity) Memory Card is based on the SD Card Association’s SD Specifications Ver2.00, which defines high capacity, high performance enhancements to market-leading SD Memory Cards. The new card meets the Class 4 standard, a speed standard that requires a data write speed of at least 4MB a second.

An 8GB capacity can capture over 3 hours of standard definition video in MPEG2 format, as well as high quality still images.

It will hit the Japanese market first. Pricing and UK availability to be confirmed.
