Samsung unveils 12.1-inch Q40 notebook

Samsung has introduced the 12.1-inch Q40 notebook to the South Korean market – and with HSDPA support, could be heading over to Europe.

The notebook weighs just 1.18kg and is powered by an ultra-low voltage Intel Core Solo U1400 running at 1.1GHz. It features 1GB of DDR 2 memory, a 60GB drive and comes with a dual-layer DVD multi-format writer too – but sadly, it’s an external drive. But on the plus side, it has no fans – which means it’s virtually silent and it has a rather attractive shiny red lid.

The machine is equipped for all official Wi-Fi standards, but Samsung has emphasised its support for HSDPA – which would certainly go down well in Europe. However, there’s no comfirmation as yet that it will head over. It’s priced around £1,232.
