Mio has officially launched the H610 – a variation on the GPS device, now billed as a “personal travel assistant” and aimed very obviously at women.

Yes, the phrases “fits easily into handbags” and “must-have fashion accessory” are something of a giveaway, but it’s an interesting device for either sex. The H610, which has interchangeable covers, features a 2.7-inch touchscreen and full GPS functionality – pre-loaded with maps of 24 European countries and over 1.8 million points of interest.

It also has WorldMate software pre-installed which provides information on weather, currency conversion, measurements, dialling codes and clothing size conversions, along with games, a media player and 1GB of storage space for photos, mp3s or movies. There’s also an SD slot to boost this further. Another feature is Microsoft Outlook Synchronisation, to keep your contacts close to hand.

The H610 is priced at £279.99 and will be available to buy from mid-November. The device comes with an AC and an in car-charger, USB Cable, carrying case, 2 replaceable covers, neck strap, wrist strap and windscreen mount and device holder.
