If you want some room-filling audio, especially from your TV, but space in the room is a bit short, it might be worth taking a look at Jamo’s compact S 260 HCS 21 2.1-channel virtual surround system.

The system is based around the S VSR 25 DVD receiver, which simulates full-blow surrouns sound via the SRS Virtual Surround function, using complex sound algorithms to create the illusion of a full movie surround system – but with only two speakers and a subwoofer.

The receiver plays DVDs, DivX and XviD movies, as well as show JPEGs and Kodak Photo CDs. There’s also an AM/FM tuner with RDS, auxiliary inputs to connect to your computer, TV or games consoles and a USB port for connecting flash drives or audio players for, along with a mini-jack audio input – also for hooking-up an MP3 player.

The speakers included are Two 91mm square A 102 satellites, optimised for the Virtual Surround system, along with a 200w active subwoofer – the S 260 SUB – with an 8-inch long-throw woofer housed in a bass-reflex cabinet. Available in high gloss black or high gloss white, you can pick it up from December for £499.99.
