The continuing quest of the iPod for world domination continues into the air, with Apple announcing today that it’s done deals with some major airlines to offer iPod integration with airline seats and displays.

Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United will offer the first seamless integration between the iPod and in-flight entertainment systems. Seat connectors will allow passengers to charge their iPod during a flight, whilst video content can be viewed on the seat back displays.

The service will be available from mid-2007. Apple is also working with Panasonic Avionics Corporation to expand the service to even more airlines.

“There is no better travelling companion than an iPod, and now travellers can power their iPods during flight and even watch their iPod movies and TV shows on their seat back displays,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing. “We’re excited to work with Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United to offer iPod users an even better in-flight experience.”

Yet another place where you can cocoon yourself in iPod.
