Along with the XL200 Series of living room PCs, Sony has also announced the LA1 Vaio – an all-in-one TV and PC unit.

It’s quite a tidy little system, featuring a specially developed circuit board to slim down the whole unit (and concealed behind the screen), with all the rear cables also out of site (hidden under the back cover). Add to that Wi-Fi and a wireless keyboard and mouse and you could finally be saying goodbye to cable hell.

The LA1 uses Intel’s latest Core 2 Duo processor and features an analogue and terrestrial tuner, with playback on the 19-inch widescreen display, which has a 1680 x 1050 super-high resolution and Sony X-black LCD screen enhancement. There’s 300GB of storage, 1GB of memory and a dual-layer DVD writer (no Blu-ray unfortunately). And if you fancy Skyping or conferencing, there’s a Sony Motion Eye Webcam, speakers and an echo-cancelling microphone.

No price or shelf date as yet, we’ll keep you posted.
