Probably not right at this moment but according to a report in The Register the boffins in Google Labs are working on ways to use the microphone attached to your PC to listen in to what you are saying and what’s going on around your computer. What it does with this information is still not clear but it could be used to identify words or sounds to target ads or obtain Search results. Spooky stuff and we can but hope this is just a bit of speculative ‘blue sky’ thinking that won’t be ending up on a PC anywhere near you…

  • If this is really so – I am glad I am about to have a MacMini which does not come with a microphone attached to it……..
    There was not much of a description given here, but it certainly suggests spying, to me.
