Google Calendar comes to UK; Picasa updates
Google have updated some of their services, bringing Google Calendar to the UK, and updating their Picasa online photo service to include Web Albums.
Calendar could be good for online collaboration, as with other services such as Writely, but I’m not overkeen on putting large amounts of personal appointments online.
It sounds good, though, featuring a Quick Add feature that allows you to use natural language to create appointments instead of faffing with detailed forms and buttons. It can also integrate with your Gmail account – if you have one – and will search your messages for appointment details then give the option to add the details to your calendar.
The advantage of this, of course, is that it’s very easy to access your information from any Internet-connected computer worldwide.
In other news, Google’s updated Picasa online photo service has come out of beta and now features Web Albums which will quickly upload images from a user’s collection to their online photo gallery. Folders on Picasa now mirror those on your PC hard drive, and it now works with Google Earth, allowing you to tag pictures with geographical info.
