At the risk of starting a Mac / PC war on Tech Digest, today’s Yay or Nay is: The Mac Pro.

For those who missed the announcement, the Mac Pro is Apple’s move of top-end desktop Macs over to Intel dual-core processors. Tested at twice the speed of the current fastest G5 machine, it packs some serious power – but is it powerful enough?

So, what do you make of the new machines? Apple’s best ever, or could do better? Share your views below.

  • Perusing the specs, this machine is essentially a Personal Supercompter. Top of the line parts and standards across the board. Very impressive product. Would suggest using third party suppliers for upgrades (memory, HDD, etc) to save some money. The 3GHz processor upgrade is a bit expensive ($800). Regardless, its on my shopping list!

  • wow, great looking machine, if you use apples configuration tool and click ALL the option boxes the flagship mac pro will cost you £12945, bargain! if I sell all my current macs, my car, wife and kids I could get one.

  • It’s a good move. A fine machine to follow on from the G5. All models feature quad high-end Xeon processors with 1333Mhz front-side buses. Up to 4 internal SATA II hard disks. All at a very reasonable price. I ordered mine today.
