Panasonic’s Toughbook CF-51 has had a bit of a facelift, upgraded with Intel Centrino Core Duo Technology and some added security to becoming the MK3.

The new CF-51 features a T2300 Intel Centrino Core Duo processor T2300 and 512MB of working memory (which can be upgraded up to 4GB), along with an extremely small chipset especially designed for notebooks – the Intel 945 GM chipset. In addition, there’s a 15-inch screen, 4x USB slots, 2x PCMCIA plug-ins, SD card slot, DVD-ROM & CD-R/RW combo drive, Wi-Fi and optional Bluetooth. Security is improved via an integrated TPM chip for safer authentication.

And obviously, it’s still as solid as ever, within a tough magnesium casing to withstand shocks and bumps, but still fairly light at 3.1kg. The Panasonic Toughbook CF-51 MK3 will be available from September 2006, priced around £1,100 plus VAT.
