MySpace could launch print magazine spin-off

In an ‘old media buys new media launches old media’ kind of way, News Corporation is considering creating a real paper magazine for users of the MySpace website. It would apparently feature interesting MySpace members and their hobbies, musical tastes and social scene.

I’m not convinced this is going to be a hit, if it happens. Why take something that’s successful online and try to move it offline, particularly given the demographic of the site?

Share more info about the users and their tastes by all means, but wouldn’t it be better kept online. For one thing, the magazine would likely be quite geographically limited, so would have a smaller reach. What do you think?
