Manchester United cashes in on the podcast boom

Manchester United – never afraid to make a few quid out of its worldwide fan base – is jumping on the iPod bandwagon, offering regular retail downloads for those who can’t live without their football punditry.

Hosted by former GMTV presenter (and reds fan) Eamonn Holmes, the Official Manchester United Podcast promises interviews with past and present players, the latest club news, celebrities and comedy sketches. The first episode has interviews with Paul Scholes and Dwight Yorke, along with Gary Pallister, Royle Family actor Ralf Little and Olympic gold-medallist Darren Campbell. The second podcast promises an interview with Eric Cantona.

The first podcast is available from today from the official site or the Audible website, with the second following on 24th August. If you want to give it a try, you can download a sample of the first episode for free, with subsequent shows costing £1.50 each. Alternatively, you can the latest on everything football from Shiny’s Who Ate All The Pies blog – and that’s free.
