According to The Register, this is Samsung’s latest attempt to make a dent into the MP3 player market – the YP-K5. And it could get its first outing at next month’s IFA show in Berlin.

The YP-K5 comes with up to 4GB of flash memory and plays the usual audio formats, along with Linux-friendly Ogg files. Or if you prefer, there’s also an FM radio. The portable player also features Samsung’s 3D audio Digital Natural Sound engine (DNSe), which apparently provides "full basses and a full sound". It’s most eye-catching feature is probably the speaker, which hinges off the back of the player, but it’s followed closely by the touchpad screen. Battery life is believed to be up to 25 hours.

If it does turn up at the IFA, we’ll give you a more detailed breakdown – and hopefully a date for retail.
