Seems like everything can be customised these days. Take the new Medion MIM 2220 notebook, revealed today, that allows the top cover to be fully customised.

Yeah I know the techies amongst us (me included) were hoping that ‘customisable’ referred to the innards, but I’m afraid not. Still, you can add a picture of your choice to the cover.

Insides are still important, though, and this notebook has these specs:

  • Intel Pentium M 735A 1.70 Ghz
  • Intel Pro 802.11g wireless connectivity
  • Intel 900 onboard graphics
  • 15.4″ widescreen WXGA display
  • 40GB hard disk, Dual-layer DVD re-writer
  • 256MB DDRII RAM – upgradeable to 1024MB
  • Connections: 3 x USB 2.0, 1 x Firewire, Ethernet, Microphone, VGA out, TV out, Sound Line out including SP-DIF
  • Other: PCMCIA type II slot, 56k modem

Custom covers can be ordered online for about £45, with users able to choose a particular piece of art or upload their own graphic.

The notebook will be available in the UK from 1st August, seemingly exclusively from Woolworths stores and their online shop.
