Firefox Version 2.0 beta version set to launch

With Microsoft’s Internet Exploter 7.0 onto its third beta version and not far from a full launch, it’s no surprise to see Mozilla updating things with the first beta version of Firefox 2.0.

The official launch of the beta version is Tuesday July 11th. Reports from early testers are complimentary of two particularly useful features – an integrated spell checker and an anti-phishing tool. The spell checker promises to make blog and forum postings more reader-friendly, while the phishing filter (which also features similarly in IE 7.0) works by checking locally stored lists of bad sites and Google’s site listing for inappropriate content.

However, the interface is generally the same, with most of the changes saved for the back end. If you want to try it out, visit the Firefox site from tomorrow.
