Here’s a very interesting service that could save you a lot of time – and the cost of a fax machine. clicktoscan lets you use your camera phone as a scanner, taking in the contents of a document, then forwarding it to over to a friend or business contact.

The beta version of the software is currently free to use and there’s no software to download. To use the service, take a snapshot of your document with your camera phone, then email it via your handset (or send via MMS) to the clicktoscan website. Once received, clicktoscan will then optimise and enhance your document for a clear reproduction (most documents on a white background will need some work to make them clearer), allowing you to forward it to the person of your choice as a .pdf, am email attachment or as a fax. A copy of the document is sent back to you for reference.

When you sign up, you get an account of 50MB per mobile number. You’ll also be able to log onto the website and manage any documents you have sent. If you need to get copies of documents sent quickly aorund the world, it could be worth a try, especially if you do business on the move.
